Types of Membership

Ordinary Membership

Any person who has a recognized qualification in epidemiology and/or involved with the discipline

Student Membership

Any person who is registered as an undergraduate or postgraduate student for a recognized qualification in epidemiology and/or closely related fields

Conferring Membership

Based on criteria, ordinary, or student membership status would be conferred to applicants by Executive Committee or its nominated representative(s)

Eligibility

Any person in South Africa is eligible for membership if they have received or are receiving formal training in epidemiology and/or have substantial experience in the field of epidemiology

Membership Fees

  • Membership fees shall be determined every 3-5 years by the Executive  Committee and any changes must be ratified by members at an Annual  General  Meeting (AGM)
  • Membership fees for new members must accompany an application for membership
  • No membership fees shall be refunded to a member who resigns or who is suspended as a member of the Society. If an application for membership is unsuccessful, membership fees will be returned to the applicant.
  • An annual subscription shall be payable by the members of the Society to procure funds for the execution of the work of the Society. The amount of the subscription shall be determined by the Executive Committee.

Termination of Membership

  • Every member shall remain a member until his/her membership is terminated either by his/her resignation in writing addressed to the Secretary/Treasurer or by a decision of the Executive Committee, after due process, or by failing to pay the annual subscription.
